The Tide Is High was a 1981 number one hit by new wave group Blondie. The song was first made famous in 1967 by reggae group The Paragons. In 2002, Atomic Kitten updated the song and had an international hit with it. Then, in 2009, rapper Kardinal Offishall extensively reworked the song, renaming it Numba 1 (Tide Is High) with a darker feel. His version featuring Rihanna was a popular alternate take.
