Although Venus was the only top 20 hit for The Shocking Blue, the group received airplay with other songs like the follow-up, Mighty Joe. In 1986, a remake of Venus by Bananarama became a number two hit.

Hey There Lonely Girl was a remake of the 1963 number 12 hit Hey There Lonely Boy by Ruby And The Romantics. Hey There Lonely Girl was also remade in 1980 by Robert John. Eddie Holman also remade the 1959 number 2 hit Since I Don't Have You by The Skyliners, and received radio airplay with other songs.

Vicki Lawrence
The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia was first offered to Cher, but she turned it down. Bobby Russell, the writer, then offered the song to his wife, Vicki Lawrence. She had some other songs that received minor airplay, like the follow-up He Did With Me. Vicki Lawrence became famous as an actress on the TV show The Carol Burnett Show.

Seasons In The Sun was the top song of the year. Terry Jacks wrote the song as an imaginary goodbye from a friend of his that passed away. In 1964, The Kingston Trio had recorded the song. Terry Jacks had some other songs that received radio airplay like Rock 'N' Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life), which became a number 13 hit for Mac Davis a few months later. Terri Jacks and his sister Susan Jacks were members of The Poppy Family.

MFSB Featuring The Three Degrees
TSOP became the theme for TV show Soul Train. MFSB stood for Mothers Fathers Sisters Brothers. MFSB had a string of soul and instrumental songs that received radio airplay. The Three Degrees also had a string of hits including the 1974 number 2 song When Will I See You Again.

How Long was the only top 20 hit for Ace. The group followed-up with Rock And Roll Runaway, which received minor radio play. In 1982, Rod Stewart remade the song and it became popular again.
