Hollywood Argyles
Alley-Oop was a number one and the only top 20 hit for Hollywood Argyles. The group was actually the work of Gary Paxton, who was Skip in the duo Skip & Flip, which had a 1959 number 14 hit with It Was I. Alley-Oop featured Sandy Nelson on drums. Dallas Frazier wrote the song.

Curtis Lee
Pretty Little Angel Eyes was the only top 20 hit for Curtis Lee. He had other songs that received radio airplay including Under The Moon Of Love. Pretty Little Angel Eyes was written by: Tommy Boyce, Curtis Lee.

Hey! Baby featured harmonica player Delbert McClinton. Although Hey Baby was a number one hit for Bruce Channel, he never made the top 20 again. He received some airplay with other songs like the follow-up Number One Man.

Do You Love Me was the only top 20 hit for The Contours. The song hit the top 20 a second time in 1988 when it was featured in the movie Dirty Dancing. The Contours also received some airplay with other songs like Shake Sherry and Can You Do It.

Telstar was inspired by the United States' launch of the first communications satellite, which provided the first TV broadcasts across the continents. The Tornadoes followed-up Telstar with other instrumental songs that received some radio airplay like Ridin' The Wind and Robot.

The Exciters
Although the number one song Tell Him was the only top 20 hit for The Exciters, the group received airplay for other songs. Tell Him was followed-up with Do Wah Diddy, which received some radio airplay months before Manfred Mann made the song a classic.

Kyu Sakamoto
The number one song Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto was the biggest Japanese language hit in US history. The song was recorded in 1961. The title, previously Ue O Muite Aruko (I Look Up When I Walk), was changed to Sukiyaki for the convenience of American audiences. He followed-up this song with China Nights (Shina No Yoru), which received some radio airplay in countries other than Japan. In 1981, A Taste Of Honey remade the song with different English lyrics and a dreamy ballad sound, and it became a number one song again. In 1994, 4 P.M. (for positive music) brought a dance version of the song to the number one spot for a third time. Sukiyaki was the only song in the rock era to hit number one three times. The writers of this song were: Rokusuke Ei, Hachidai Nakamura.

The Singing Nun
The Singing Nun was Jeannine Deckers. She played guitar in the convent. The church helped her attain a record contract, but she soon left the church. Although number one song Dominique was the only top 20 hit for The Singing Nun, she followed up with Tous Les Chemins (All The Roads) which received minor airplay. She later recorded under other names.

Napoleon XIV
Napoleon XIV was Jerry Samuels. They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! was his only top 20 hit. He followed-up with other novelty songs like I'm In Love With My Little Red Tricycle, which received only slight radio airplay.

Soul Survivors
In 1987, Breakfast Club received moderate airplay with their remake of Expressway To Your Heart (without the parentheses). The members of Soul Survivors were in separate groups until they collided in an auto accident and formed this group. Although this was the only top 20 hit for Soul Survivors, the group received some airplay with other songs like Explosion (In Your Soul).

John Fred & His Playboy Band
Judy In Disguise (With Glasses) featured trumpet playing by Ronnie Goodson of Ronnie And The Hi-Lites. While this number one song was the only top 20 hit for John Fred, he had other songs that received some radio airplay, like Hey Hey Bunny.

Jeannie C. Riley
Although the number one song Harper Valley P.T.A. was the only top 20 song for Jeannie C. Riley, she received some radio airplay with other songs, like The Girl Most Likely. Harper Valley P.T.A. was written by Tom T. Hall. The song was from the movie Harper Valley P.T.A..

Zagar & Evans
In The Year 2525 was recorded in 1964, but became popular around the time of the first manned moon landing. Although the song took a long time to make it, it was written in about half an hour. This song became a number one hit and the only top 20 song for the duo. Zagar & Evans received slight airplay for other songs like Mr. Turnkey.

Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye was a number one song and the only top 20 hit for Steam. The group followed-up with I've Gotta Make You Love Me, which received moderate airplay.
