Although Call
To The Heart was the only pop top 20 song by Giuffria, the group
had a few other songs that received pop and rock radio play,
including the rock top 20 hit I Must Be Dreaming.
Yo' Little Brother
was by far the most popular song by Nolan Thomas. His remake
of One Bad Apple, a number one song in 1971
for The Osmonds, also received some play.
After initially
being banned in the UK, Relax became the top selling single
in UK history. Frankie Goes To Hollywood got its name from a
headline about Frank Sinatra. Although Relax was the only pop
top 20 hit by Frankie
Goes To Hollywood, the group had a few other songs
that were popular in various formats.
The Firm was
formed by Jimmy Page from Led
Zeppelin, Paul Rodgers from Bad
Company, and Chris Slade from Manfred
Mann. Although Radioactive was the only top 20 pop
hit by The Firm, the follow up, Satisfaction Guaranteed, received
some pop radio play. Meanwhile, The Firm had a few top 20 rock
songs too. Radioactive was from the album The Firm.
Invisible was
the greatest solo hit by Yaz member Alison Moyet, and she had
a string of lesser known solo alternative and dance songs that
received radio play like Is This Love.
Axel F was a
top 20 one
hit wonder for Harold Faltermeyer who was known mainly
as a movie score writer, but also wrote hit songs for other
artists, especially Donna
Summer. Axel F was written by Harold Faltermeyer.
The song was from the movie Beverly Hills Cop.
Never Ending
Story was the only top 20 solo hit for Limahl,
lead singer of the group Kajagoogoo.
The follow-up of this song was Only For Love, which was a popular
dance song. Never Ending Story was from the movie The Never
Ending Story.
Burning Flame
was the most popular song by Vitamin Z. The group received slight
radio airplay with other songs too, like Circus Ring. Burning
Flame was from the album Rites Of Passage.
Cry was the
only top 20 hit by Godley
& Creme, but the group had other songs that received
minor radio play. The duo, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, were
members of the group 10cc.
Although Take
On Me was the greatest hit by a-ha, the group had other songs
that received radio play, including The Sun Always Shines On
T.V., which peaked at number 20 on both the pop and rock top
20 charts. Take On Me was remade in 1998 by Reel Big Fish. a-ha's
Take On Me was from the album Hunting High And Low.
Although Miami
Vice Theme was the only top 20 hit by Jan Hammer, his later
song, Crockett's Theme also received some radio play. Miami
Vice Theme was an instrumental.
Jan Hammer wrote the song. The song was from the TV show Miami
Vice.
Kayleigh was
the only Marillion song to receive even slight pop radio airplay.
Kayleigh hit number
8 rock for Marillion too, and the group had other
popular rock songs. Kayleigh was from the album Misplaced
Childhood.
Perfect Way
was the only top 20 hit for Scritti
Politti, but the group had a string of hits in the
UK, and others that received US airplay. This song was from
the album Cupid & Psyche 85.
