The Homecoming
was the a top 20 one
hit wonder for its writer, Hagood Hardy. He received
minor radio airplay for other songs too, like Love Theme From
Missouri Breaks. Hagood Hardy also wrote commercial jingles
and movie music.
The extra here is an alternate version of the song, The Homecoming
(2). The Homecoming was from the movie The Waltons.
The White Knight
was a top 20 one
hit wonder for Cledus Maggard And The Citizen's Band.
Follow-up song Kentucky Moonrunner received slight airplay.
The White Knight was written by Jay Huguely.
In 1921, Baby
Face was a popular song for Jan Garber Orchestra With Benny
Davis. The song was also done by Art Mooney, Little Richard,
Bobby Darin, and others. Baby Face was the only top 20 hit for
The Wing And A Prayer Fife And Drum Corps. The group also received
minor radio airplay with a dance remake of the 1966
number 8 song Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles.
Without Your
Love was a 1976number
14 hit for Charlie Ross a top 20 one
hit wonder. Charlie Ross received slight light and
country airplay with other songs. Without Your Love really was
a duet, but the woman singing was uncredited. In the 1960s,
Charlie Ross was with Eternity's
Children.
Fooled Around
And Fell In Love featured background vocals by Mickey Thomas,
who later joined Jefferson
Starship. Although Fooled Around And Fell In Love
was the only top 20 hit for Elvin Bishop, he had some other
songs that received slight or moderate airplay, like the follow-up
Struttin' My Stuff.
Shannon was
a top 20 one
hit wonder for Henry Gross, whose other songs received
moderate play but missed the top 20. Henry Gross was the original
lead guitarist for Sha Na Na.
Union Man was
a near top 20 miss for Cate Bros. The brothers had other songs
that received slight radio airplay like Can't Change My Heart
and Time Is A Thief.
When TV show
Happy
Days started, the theme to the show was 1955
anthem song (We're Gonna) Rock Around The Clock by Bill Haley
And His Comets. The theme was later changed to Happy Days. Pratt
& McClain followed-up Happy Days with a remake of Devil With
A Blue Dress On, which had been part of a 1966
number one medley for Mitch Ryder And The Detroit Wheels.
Although Movin'
was the a top 20 one
hit wonder for Brass Construction, the group had
a few other songs that received radio airplay, like Changin'
and Ha Cha Cha (Funktion).
Making Our Dreams
Come True was the theme to the comedy TV show Laverne
& Shirley. This one song that hit the radio by
Cyndi Grecco gave her a single top 20 hit. A few months later,
she sang I Want It All, the theme song from TV series Blansky's
Beauties.
Afternoon Delight
was named for a Washington cafe called Clyde's Afternoon Delights.
Although Afternoon Delight was the only top 20 hit for Starland
Vocal Band, the group had other songs that received minor radio
airplay like California Day and The Light Of My Life.
More, More,
More was by far the most popular top 20 hit song by Andrea True
Connection. She made the TC top 20 again in 1977
with number
14 hit N.Y., You Got Me Dancing, which was also a
US top 30 song.
The Boys Are
Back In Town was the only top 20 hit for Thin Lizzy. The group
had a string of popular rock songs, including the 1973 rock
classic Whiskey In The Jar which, in 1999, became a top 20 rock
hit for Metallica.
In 1989, Bon
Jovi remade The Boys Are Back In Town. In 1999, Everclear
remade the song again.

Turn The Beat
Around was the only top 20 hit for Vicki Sue Robinson. Vicki
Sue Robinson had a string of popular dance songs like her 1984
remake of Everlasting Love, which had been done by Robert Knight
and Carl Carlton among others. In 1994, Gloria Estefan brought
her remake of Turn The Beat Around to number
6.
Keith Carradine
was a movie and TV actor. I'm Easy was his only top 20 hit.
He did not receive noticeable airplay with any other song. Keith
Carradine wrote the song. The song was from the movie Nashville.
Shirley & Squirrely
was a revival of The Nutty Squirrels. The creator of both fictional
groups, Bob Milsap, did not have the right to use the name The
Nutty Squirrels, and so the group became Shirley & Squirrely.
As The Nutty Squirrels, the group had the 1959 number 9 hit
Uh! Oh! Part 2.
While Play That
Funky Music was the only top 20 hit for Wild Cherry, the group
received some airplay with other songs like Baby Don't You Know.
In 1990, Vanilla
Ice took his remake of Play That Funky Music to number
2. The song was from the album Blame It On The
Boogie.
The instrumental
song A Fifth Of Beethoven was a top 20 one
hit wonder for Walter Murphy. He had other songs
that received minor radio airplay like Themes From E.T. (The
Extra-Terrestrial). Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote the song.
Wham Bam was
originally released as Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang but the name was
quickly shortened. Silver followed-up with Memory, which received
slight radio airplay.
Disco Duck was
the only top 20 hit for Rick Dees, longtime host of the Rick
Dees Weekly Top 40. He had some other songs that received minor
radio airplay like Eat My Shorts. Disco Duck (Part 1) was from
the album The Original Disco Duck.
