Why Can't We
Live Together was the only top 20 song for Timmy Thomas. He
received minor airplay with other songs, like the follow-up
People Are Changin'. In 1984, Sade
received some soul airplay with Why Can't We Live Together.
Dueling Banjos
was the only top 20 hit for Eric Weissberg. In 1975, Eric Weissberg
& Deliverance received minor radio airplay a remake of the 1958
number one song Yakety Yak by The Coasters. Comedian Martin
Mull also received some radio airplay with a spoof of Dueling
Banjos entitled Dueling Tubas. Dueling Banjos was from the movie
Deliverance.
Oh, Babe, What
Would You Say was the only top 20 hit by music producer and
engineer Norman 'Hurricane' Smith. He received minor airplay
for other songs also like Don't Let It Die and Who Was It. Hurricane
produced early albums for The Beatles, and worked with others
like Pink Floyd and Stevie
Wonder.
Although Dancing
In The Moonlight was the only top 20 hit for King Harvest, the
group had other songs that received radio airplay, like the
follow-up A Little Bit Like Heaven.
The Blue Ridge
Rangers had one US top 20 song with this remake of Jambalaya.
The group received significant rock and country radio play with
other songs, and it included group member John
Fogerty who was also in Creedence
Clearwater Revival. Jambalaya (On The Bayou) was
written by Hank Williams.
The Night The
Lights Went Out In Georgia was first offered to Cher,
but she turned it down. Bobby Russell, the writer, then offered
the song to his wife, Vicki Lawrence. She had some other songs
that received minor airplay, like the follow-up He Did With
Me. Vicki Lawrence became famous as an actress on the TV show
The Carol Burnett Show.
Dueling Tubas
was a spoof of Dueling Banjos by Eric Weissberg & Steve Mandell.
This was the most popular song by Martin Mull. He released some
other novelty songs too, like Boogie Man. Martin Mull was a
comedian, movie actor, and occasional guest on the TV show Saturday
Night Live.
Daisy A Day
was the only top 20 hit for Jud Strunk. He had other songs that
received some radio airplay, like the follow-up Next Door Neighbor's
Kid.

Wildflower was
the only top 20 hit for Skylark. A few months later, the group
received minor radio airplay with I'll Have To Go Away. Skylark
keyboardist David Foster went on to make his own songs, including
the 1985 number
12 hit Love Theme From St. Elmo's Fire.
Although Hocus
Pocus was the only top 20 hit for mostly instrumental
group Focus, the group received minor airplay for other songs
like Sylvia and Harem Scarem. Hocus Pocus was from the album
Moving Waves.
Clint Holmes
enlisted the producer's son, Philip Vance, to help him sing
this song. Clint Holmes followed-up with the song Shiddle-ee-dee,
which received minor radio airplay. The writers of this song
were: Lee Pockriss, Paul Vance.
While I'm Doin'
Fine Now was the only top 20 hit by New York City, the group
had other songs that received soul and dance airplay like Quick,
Fast, In A Hurry and Happiness Is.
Stories keyboardist
Michael Brown was also in The Left Banke whose greatest hit
was the 1966 number 5 hit Walk Away Renee. Although Brother
Louie was the only top 20 hit for Stories,
the group had a string of songs that received pop or rock radio
airplay.
My Maria was
the only top 20 hit for B.W. Stevenson. He had other songs that
received some radio airplay like the follow-up The River Of
Love. In 1996, My Maria was remade by country duo Brooks & Dunn
and received extensive radio airplay.
