Judy In
Disguise (With Glasses)
John Fred & His Playboy Band
Judy In Disguise
(With Glasses) featured trumpet playing by Ronnie Goodson of
Ronnie And The Hi-Lites. The song was a take-off of 1967 song Lucy In The Sky With
Diamonds by The
Beatles. While this number one song was the only top
20 hit for John Fred, he had other songs that received some
radio airplay, like Hey Hey Bunny.

I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die-Rag
Country Joe And The Fish
I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die-Rag
was an anthem in the movement against the Vietnam War, and performed
at Woodstock. The song was popular in 1968, but was not released as

While I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die-Rag was the most popular
song by Country Joe And The Fish, the group received radio airplay
with other songs too. The song was from the album I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die.
Reach Out Of
The Darkness was the only top 20 hit for Friend And Lover. The
group followed-up with If Love Is In Your Heart and other songs,
which received some radio airplay.
MacArthur Park
was turned down by The
Association. Richard Harris sang the song in a single
take. Richard Harris never had another top 20 hit, but he received
some radio airplay with other songs like My
Boy. In 1974, MacArthur Park was done
by The
Four Tops and missed the top 20. In 1978, Donna
Summer took her disco version to number
one. MacArthur Park was written by Jimmy Webb.
Angel Of The
Morning was the only top 20 hit for Merrilee Rush. She received
some radio airplay with other songs, like Save Me.
A 1981Juice
Newton remake of Angel Of The Morning hit number
2. A 2001 rework and remake, retitled simply Angel, by Shaggy
Featuring Rayvon, hit number
one.
While Pictures
Of Matchstick Men was the only top 20 hit for The Status Quo,
the group had a long string of songs played on rock stations.
The 1989 Camper Van Beethoven version of Pictures Of Matchstick
Men became a <rock
number 14 hit.
Journey To The
Center Of The Mind was the only top 20 hit for The Amboy Dukes.
The group had other songs that received airplay, and group leader
Ted
Nugent went on to have a long album rock career.
Love Makes A
Woman was the only top 20 hit for Barbara Acklin. She received
some radio airplay with other songs, including her vocal remake
of the Young-Holt Unlimited 1969 number 3 instrumental song, Soulful Strut, renamed Am I The
Same Girl. Love Makes A Woman was from the album Love Makes
A Woman.
Although the
1968 song Harper Valley P.T.A.
was the only top 20 song for Jeannie C. Riley, she received
some radio airplay with other songs, like The
Girl Most Likely. Harper Valley P.T.A. was written
by Tom T. Hall. Harper Valley P.T.A. was from the movie Harper
Valley P.T.A..
Fire featured
the drummer from Emerson, Lake And Palmer, Carl Palmer. Fire
was a number
one song for The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, and
his only top 20 hit. He followed-up with a remake of the 1956
classic Screamin' Jay Hawkins song I Put A Spell On You, and
got some radio play with it.
In The Garden
Of Eden was changed to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, according to singer
Doug Engle from Iron Butterfly. The song is often considered
a one
hit wonder. It did not make the top 20. Iron Butterfly
was a psychedelic album rock group whose most popular song was
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and the group had other songs that received
rock play, like Soul Experience and Easy
Rider (Let The Wind Pay The Way).
Kasenetz-Katz
Singing Orchestral Chorus was a production by Ohio Express members
Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz. The lead singer was Joey Levine
who also sang for Ohio Express and Reunion.
