Carpenters was a brother and sister pop and light music duo, featuring Richard and Karen Carpenter. The greatest hit by Carpenters was Top Of The World, a 1973 number one song. Top Of The World was first made famous by Lynn Anderson as a country hit. Then, the previously recorded Carpenters version became the fourth top 20 hit off the album A Song For You, with I Won't Last A Day Without You becoming the fifth.
Karen Carpenter lived from 1950 to 1983 when she died of a heart condition related to anorexia nervosa.
